How do you make decisions on how to graze regeneratively on semi-arid rangeland? Rancher experience and research studies suggest the question of whether rotational or season-long grazing is “better” is nuanced. In this 45-minute session, we will explore the assumptions and motivations that go into making grazing management decisions, beginning with three common grazing concepts: frequency, intensity, and recovery. What causes range degradation? How do we best mimic natural processes? And what criteria do we use to making decisions on grazing regime? We will try to answer these questions and more in an open discussion. A workshop from NCAT-ATTRA Sustainable Agriculture.
