Mercedes Talvitie

Mercedes Talvitie is the Climate and Conservation Program Manager at Marbleseed, an organic education nonprofit serving farmers across the Midwest. In this role, she supports climate-resilient farming by connecting producers with financial and technical assistance, as well as peer learning opportunities that strengthen both land stewardship and rural livelihoods.
Mercedes began farming after college and fell in love with the rewarding work and science behind crop and soil health. These early experiences gave her a practical understanding of the challenges farmers face, and the strategies used to build soil and protect resources.
Before joining Marbleseed, she worked in the dairy supply chain, leading greenhouse gas reduction efforts and supporting environmental compliance. She received her bachelor’s degree in environmental science from the University of Virginia and her master’s in environmental conservation from the University of Wisconsin- Madison.
