Herding Dog Demonstration

During lunch on November 5 in the courtyard, come watch herding dogs, Zoey and Ace, move ducks through a variety of obstacles that simulate ranch work! Their handler, Hana Fullmer, trains other handlers and dogs full time, while her dogs work goats, sheep, geese, and ducks on a regular basis at Tierra Vida Farm, as well as compete in several stock dog trials. The dogs will be herding the quacking, waddling, duck stars of Arroyo Runs Through it – a micro-farm nestled in the San Pedro Mountains of New Mexico. This flock of blue khaki ducks is never short on conversation – always quacking and very likely spilling the latest barnyard tea. During the rare times they aren’t in the mood for a good gossip session, you can find them curling up under their favorite yucca plant to lay an egg. This demonstration will test their teamwork skills and they might have a few opinions about it along the way!
