Ecological Grief. Eco-anxiety. Climate distress. Complex emotions can arise when witnessing or learning about environmental destruction or loss, especially for people with strong ties to the land. Reckoning with these emotions means reconnecting to the reality that climate change is already changing the ways we live on planet Earth. Fostering resilience involves acknowledging our collective experience so we can find a way through it. In this participatory workshop The American Farmland Trust will invite the REGENERATE community to explore their mental and emotional experiences of climate change as well as strategies for showing up in our lives and in our work amidst the growing challenges resulting from climate change. Through engaging in this workshop, we expect participants will deepen their understanding about climate change-related mental health impacts, experience support and connection with peers, and become more aware of resiliency strategies. It is an opportunity for participants to reduce feelings of isolation and build community ties that are essential in the work in which we all engage.
