Aligned Capital for a Regenerative Transition: Expanding the impact of grant funding through blended capital to accelerate transitions to regenerative land stewardship

New Mexico’s agricultural producers are operating under intensifying climate pressures, including prolonged drought, water scarcity, soil degradation, and increasing market volatility. Federal and state grant funding provides important capital for land stewards to implement practices and projects that make their land more resilient and regenerative, but these often require up front capital commitments.
This panel will explore how the benefits and impacts of grant funding can be amplified using flexible bridge capital that reduces the upfront cost burden often required to access federal and state grant funding through programs like EQIP, CSP, and the NM Healthy Soils Program. In addition, it will explore how additional funding from low-cost, aligned debt capital can expand or extend the scope of work to fit more appropriately with the real needs of the land and the business. This can be through low-cost bridge funding with flexible terms or through blending grant funds with patient capital to expand the scope of a project. Panelists will talk through the terms they offer but also how they can provide technical financial assistance in the process so that farmers and ranchers can make informed decisions about their projects and find ways to accelerate this much needed work.
