The Livestock Producer’s Record Keeping Toolbox: Workshopping PARTY!

Ever wished for that safe, calm and focused space for you to work on dreaded and nasty admin and financial analysis and record keeping that’s so hard to make time for in the day-to-day? This workshop is for you! Our goal is not only to make guided space and time for financial record keeping but hopefully change your opinion on why it’s worthwhile to utilize these tools! This pre-conference seminar is a hands-on tools workshop with a “choose your own adventure” format, focusing on harvest record-keeping, direct production costs, carcass yield and basic financial income and expenses tracking for both meat and livestock producers with multiple business models: on the hoof livestock sales, contract or custom care grazing, AND/OR direct meat and value added product producers. We will send webinars to watch ahead of time, intro our tools briefly, and then give you an opportunity to use your own data to play with and activate our spreadsheets. The target audience is primarily beginning farmers and ranchers (cattle and sheep/goat), even those of you who are computer-averse and time-constrained, but workshop is applicable to anyone at any stage in their venture looking to improve their record-keeping skills. We will focus on reviewing a few key financial tracking tools and then break into small groups for an hour+ of actual workshopping time where you will fill out tools with your own numbers, and have an opportunity to both work together and ask instructor questions. This is practical, actionable content with an outcome of getting actual work done! We will have some bonus tools for grazier operations such as herd growth calculators and contract breakeven analysis, for those that they apply to.
